MTIA forum

The “Modern technologies of industrial automation” Forum has been held in Novosibirsk since 1999. This is one of the largest events of interest beyond the Urals, devoted to the automation of technological processes at the industrial facilities, as well as related concepts. The central theme of the Forum is the integrated solutions for the automation of technological processes at the heat & electrical energy industry enterprises, as well as other industries. In 2014-2016, the Forum was held as a part of Siberian Forum of Industry of Information Systems (SIIS), organized by NP “SibAcademSoft”.

An organizer and founder of the Forum is the “Tornado Modular Systems” company, which is the leading Russian developer and manufacturer of automation devices and fault-tolerant distributed control systems (DCSs). The company has more than 150 successful major implementations in Russia and abroad (Kazakhstan, China, Republic of Srpska and others), mainly in the electric power industry.

The Forum goals:

• The development of automation technology in the industry field, including the electric power industry;
• Sharing of experience, monitoring the trends, development of relations with customers, partners and competitors;
• Development and production of effective power engineering technologies;
• Support of cluster initiative, import substitution and re-industrialization programs.

The Forum audience: engineers, AMS¹ and CMD&A² technical specialists, directors of industrial enterprises, software developers, administration and mass media representatives, system integrators.

The Forum mission

“This association provides potentially good opportunities, which we want to use. As a part of cluster, we would like to obtain financing for our new developments, not only for our company but also for the whole group of companies to create world-class products” – says Oleg Serdyukov, the “Tornado Modular Systems” company general director. This is a large-scale project, which involves several teams of the domestic companies of automation devices development and manufacture.

Oleg Serdyukov, the "Tornado Modular Systems" company general director, said: “Of course, there was a competition, but there was dominance of western solutions in the automation sphere. And not just some kind of automation, for example, in the ice cream production, but automation of power engineering facilities, power-generating units”.

For the last few years, the company specialists have been working on development and production of our own distributed control system for automation of major industrial facilities. The colleagues from consecutive areas will judge the cluster initiative, which was born within the walls of the Technopark. “We had the idea to create a universal platform of automation, based only on the domestic developments and equipment, and applicable in any industry”, – says Oleg Serdyukov.

The main parts of the platform are ready and are being successfully used in the platform prototype of DCS “Tornado” at power engineering enterprises in Russia and abroad. Among them, there is a product line of universal input-output ioGridex modules and iPC Gridex processor unit. iPC Gridex is the first domestic industrial computer with a unique architecture and opportunity to configure all constituent elements: processor, memory and periphery. Passive cooling and low energy consumption allows using iPC Gridex even at critically low and high temperatures.

So, we show that the ideas born at the MTIA Forum are actually being implemented and the Forum provides exchange of experience among Russian manufacturers and developers in IT sphere.
