Integrated APCS of the turbo unit No. 2 of Tomsk SDPP-2

DCS design, shipment, assembling, commissioning and staff training of automatic process control system for the turbo unit No. 2 of T-50/60 type of Tomsk SDPP -2 (JSC “TGC-11”) has been executed. All work has been completed fully and with an appropriate quality.

Automation object characteristics

The T-50/60-8,8 turbo unit manufactured by “LMZ1” with TF-63-2U3 generator manufactured by “ELSIB” with air-cooling and thyristor excitation system. 
Along with the turbo unit, the plantwide unit of the heating system injection is also included in the automation object. This unit consists of the following components:

  • Deaerator unit No. 1, 2;
  • Main ejectors of vacuum deaerators;
  • 100/15 Pressure-reducing unit No. 1, 2;
  • 30/1,8 Pressure-reducing unit No. 1, 2;
  • North and south storage tanks including transfer pumps;
  • Pumps of delivery water;
  • Injection unit (pumps of raw and makeup water, boilers).

APCS purposes, functions and field of use

The purposes of the system creation are:

  • safe functioning;
  • increase of the fail-safety level;
  • increase of operating efficiency of the turbo unit;
  • improvement of ecological indices of thermotechnical equipment.
  • The system function: automated control of the turbo unit and plantwide equipment (injection unit) in all of its modes.

The schematic structure of the hardware is given in the Figure:


The APCS has the following automated workstations (AWSs) of operative staff:

  • AWS of a process control operator (dubbed, triplicated);
  • AWS of an APCS engineer;
  • AWS of computer security;
  • AWS of vibration monitoring and vibration diagnostics (supplied by “Vibrobit” Research & Production Enterprise);
  • AWS of a shift supervisor.

Adding to the standard functions (measurement systems, remote control of valves and auxiliary devices, technological protections, automatic control systems), the following new automated control functions of the technological object for machinist assistance have been implemented:

  • Data processing;
  • Tasks of logical (functional & group) control.

In addition, the function of virus protection of all top-level computers and all remote computers (which are connected to a redundant Ethernet network of APCS) has been introduced.

Efficiency criteria of the APCS and their expected changes

Running charges (repair, servicing, staff) of the turbo unit: a decrease of 3...5%.
Amortization charges: a decrease of 1...3%.
A total economic effect of the APCS installation (in comparison with the initial index): 5...10%.
