Integrated APCS of the power-generating units No. 4 & 5 of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk CHPP-1

“Modular Systems Tornado” company has implemented APCS of the power-generating units No. 4 & 5 of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk CHPP-1 located on Sakhalin Island. The APCS purpose is automation of electric power generation control of the main and auxiliary equipment of the power-generating unit. Due to the use of more advanced software and hardware, the automation provides the following advantages:

• Increase in reliability, efficiency, safety and lifetime of the equipment as a result of reduction of intensity of random vibrations of the technological process parameters;
• Implementation of more complex monitoring and control algorithms;
• Expansion of the APCS data functions;
• Improvement of the technological equipment and APCS diagnostics;
• Increase in lifetime and reliability of the system in case of its component failure and reduction of a severe accident risk;
• Reduction of the power-generating unit start-up time;
• Staff and energy equipment safety in case of an accident threat;
• Reduction of the power-generating unit idle time in a period of scheduled repairs and emergency shutdowns caused by increase of technical operation level;
• Improvement of the working conditions of the staff and prevention of human errors.

APCS of the power-generating unit No. 5 includes the following technological equipment:

• Two gas-turbine units of “LM6000 PD Sprint” series manufactured by “GE Aero Energy” company;
• Gas supply system;
• Chemical water cleaning system for maintenance of the “Sprint” system (LM6000 Gas-turbine unit) operation; 
• Two air compressors of GA30 + AP-7.5 type manufactured by “Atlas Copco” company;
• Electrical & technical equipment.
