Semey electrical substation
In 2015 “Tornado Modular Systems” company completed automation of 500 kV electrical substation as part of the building of the following facilities: 500 kV high voltage line of Ekibastuz 1150 kV electrical substation – Semey 500 kV electrical substation, 500 kV high voltage line of Semey 500 kV electrical substation – Ust’-Kamenogorsk 500 kV electrical substation.
The scope of automation work: design, shipment of prefault information acquisition & transmission system for wide-area protection, assembling, adjustment.
These facilities (a 500 kV high voltage line of Ekibastuz 1150 kV electrical substation – Semey 500 kV electrical substation and a 500 kV high voltage line of Semey 500 kV electrical substation – Ust’-Kamenogorsk 500 kV electrical substation) are newly constructed power facilities. Their building is planned as part of the project called “Building of 500 kV Ekibastuz high voltage line – Shulbinsk HPP – Ust’-Kamenogorsk”, the purposes of which are:
- first, to increase the network capacity in the “North – East” section, which will cover the deficits of the East Kazakhstan region regardless of the transit of electric power via the networks of unified power system of Russia;
- second, to guarantee the full power output of Shulbinsk HPP (from 135 MW today to 700 MW) when the equalizer of Bulak HPP is launched.
This project (“Bulding of 500 kV Ekibastuz high voltage line – Shulbinsk HPP – Ust’-Kamenogorsk”) has a great strategic importance. Its implementation is provided as part of the government Program of development of electrical energy industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2010 - 2014, created on the basis Program of the accelerated industrial-innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2010 – 2014.
The project implementation period: 2013-2016.
